"So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.”
Suffering happens. We wish it didn’t. We pray. We evaluate our lives. We seek to do what we can to get out from under it, but it persists. We trust, we have faith, and there is no place else to turn to but the Lord. He is not our last resort. He is our first resort, our second resort, and all the resorts in the middle. Our part is persisting in faith and in good works for His glory according to our ability. Do not give up.
One entrusts all of life to God. The Greek word means “depositing money with a friend who can be trusted.” A man or woman entrusts himself/herself to God who cannot fail. If a trust is sacred to man, how much more so to God?
is a plan for you that is in the Bible. First it involves commitment of yourself and your whole situation to God, who is your faithful Creator. There are many examples of people who gave their burden to the Lord and then picked it back up again repeatedly. It never works. Leave it there. We may have to repeat that every day, but He is one who is trustworthy in His timing and in His way to see His perfect will done.
Secondly, the plan involves responding the way Jesus would respond by doing what is right and good. He also told us and showed us how to pray for those who persecute us and painfully abuse us for they are under the judgment of God and need forgiveness themselves.
My friend, Dale Lundgren, who died earlier last year send this to me:
In 1967 on the 7th of this month, (Sept,) I had the accident that caused my paralysis. The date will always be embedded in my mind, but do I regret that it happened? Amazingly, I can see how God has used my disappointment for His appointments all these years. In fact, the first song I wrote after being released from the hospital was this one:
DISAPPOINTMENTS – ARE HIS APPOINTMENTS.
OUR TRIALS AND TRAGEDIES, ARE ALL BY PLAN.
FOR OUR GOD LOVES US, AND WATCHES OE’R US,
RULES THE LIFE OF THE SPIRITUAL MAN.
OUR DISAPPOINTMENTS, ARE HIS APPOINTMENTS.
AND HEARTACHES, ARE FOR OUR GOOD.
THANK THE LORD, FOR EVERY TRAGEDY.
THINGS WILL WORK OUT, FOR OUR OWN GOOD (ROM 8:28)
WHEN DISAPPOINTED, REMEMBER JESUS.
DISAPPOINTED HIM, TIME AND AGAIN.
OUR PRECIOUS SAVIOR, KNEW HURT AND SORROW,
TRAVELED OVER, OUR ROAD OF PAIN.
Application: When you give your day to the Lord, you are giving yourself as well. Let Him do His work and in time you will understand it better.
Prayer: Lord, I give this day to you! Work in me to do Your will.
